However, if you're looking for a model that stands out and is very affordable, the Mazda MX-30 might appeal to you immensely. The small SUV from the Japanese manufacturer offers unique elements in the industry, such as rear suicide half-doors. In short, it's a one-of-a-kind vehicle, and the fact that it's 100% electric makes it even more interesting.
Range and Price
As it is essentially a concept vehicle, the Mazda MX-30 offers only two configuration options, which is just fine. There's the entry-level version with a starting price of $42,650, making it one of the most affordable electric vehicles on the market. Then, there's the GT version, which is the only other available option. This version has a starting price of $47,650 and boasts an impressive level of equipment. For example, you get a 360-degree camera, a sunroof, numerous driver assistance technologies, and an upgraded finish. Moreover, the Mazda MX-30 is eligible for most government rebates for electric vehicles, making it even more appealing.

The Mazda MX-30 looks like nothing else on the market, giving it a significant advantage over its closest competitors. Its unique concept means that people generally have no hesitation in deciding whether to choose it. The MX-30 is surprisingly popular, and I believe even Mazda did not expect such success for its electric SUV, which serves as a test model.

Design and Technology

The half-door is clearly visible, giving it an intriguing look. Mazda had previously used this concept for its sporty car, the RX-8, and the manufacturer has repeated it here. I think it's an excellent idea as it gives the appearance of a two-door vehicle with the convenience of a four-door.
The MX-30's interior is quite minimalist, with high-quality finishing. It almost feels like being in a luxury model. I really like the driving position. However, due to its unique concept, the rear seats are limited in space, as is the trunk.
In terms of technology, the Japanese manufacturer's SUV lacks nothing. The driver assistance technologies are effective without being too intrusive. The multimedia system takes some getting used to, but otherwise, everything else is fine.
Performance
The 2024 Mazda MX-30 offers only one mechanical option. The small SUV is powered by an electric motor with 143 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque. Its top speed is limited to 140 km/h, and it can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in under 9.7 seconds, which is not particularly fast. The MX-30 uses a 35.5 kWh battery pack, allowing it to store enough energy to offer a range of 161 kilometers on a full charge.

It's hard to say if the MX-30 would be even more popular with a larger battery and a higher price, but it is certainly successful in its current form, and that's why you should seriously consider it.
